Where is AI going to take the practice of Pharmacy? What is the impact on the business, pharmacists' duties, and technician operations? While I've had my personal thoughts I've commented upon over the years, I thought it might be useful to put together a list of papers that others have written about that may be of interest to you.

So, with that being the case, here is a list of publications I have come across regarding the application of AI to the pharmacy space:

Artificial intelligence in the field of pharmacy practice: A literature review - Narrative review that evaluated 43 identified studies that have used AI applicable to the pharmacy space and proposed a new term, "pharmacointelligence," to encapsulate this nascent space combining AI and pharmacy practice.
Development of artificial intelligence powered apps and tools for clinical pharmacy services: A systematic review - Review that evaluated 19 studies that involve pharmacists in the development or use of AI-powered apps and tools.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pharmacy: An Overview of Innovations - Commentary piece that gives some background information on AI and terminology, how it has been used in healthcare, and possible implications for pharmacy practice.
ASHP Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy - Position statement based on an advisory board meeting (2019-20) on implications of AI to health system pharmacy operations. Probably will be updated in the next few years as AI has advanced further.
A scoping review of artificial intelligence within pharmacy education - Review of literature regarding the use of AI in pharmacy education, which only found 7 studies of limited relevance. I feel that this will likely expand in the next few years with a significant rise in studies looking at LLM.
Artificial intelligence (AI) in pharmacy: an overview of innovations - Commentary piece that identifies possible barriers to AI adoption in pharmacy and mechanisms to overcome them.
Role of artificial intelligence in pharmacy practice: A narrative review - Narrative review of 22 studies that evaluate the use and implication of AI to clinical pharmacy services.
The future of pharmacy: How AI is revolutionizing the industry - Detailed review on application of AI to pharmacy practice and business, some good graphics and tables.

Overall, I think this mix of reviews can help those looking to see what AI research has been done in the field of pharmacy and are looking for case studies, data analysis reports, and the limited amount of studies available.

I feel that most of the narrative reviews run similarly but also have some gravitation towards their practice areas (clinical services, health system, outpatient), so it is worth reading them to see their particular thoughts related to their sector of pharmacy.
