DIGITAL HEALTH 101
Where to start?
Odds are you may be thinking of learning more about digital health. You’re an academic, clinician, researcher, etc. You’re busy. We get that. So this page is a resource hub. We’ve collated information on different digital health interests here for you to help you get a head start on looking up some key information on different areas of interest within the digital health space.
How this was planned?
Most digital health resources are focused on the business side and company outlooks. While those resources can be helpful in some circles, it leaves clinicians and practitioners by the wayside in terms of finding core clinical information to help guide them. Taking that into consideration, we started to look at what digital health innovations have occurred by a systems/condition-based approach, which can be seen as follows:
By taking a systems approach, which mirrors much of the educational models in the US across health professions (e.g., physician, pharmacy, nursing), we hope that learning and navigating digital health topics will be much more intuitive for health care professionals. These resources will hopefully help:
Health care professionals looking to learn about what digital health means for areas they may practice in, for example, ‘How does digital health change the management of hypertension?”
Educators looking to integrate digital health topics into their lectures or curriculum. By mapping what technology is available and possible teaching examples for integration, we hope to better spur knowledge adoption in future health professionals.
New researchers or people coming into the digital health space looking to see what the current field looks like. While it may be easy to find market outlooks and business assessments, understanding application to patient care, workflow consideration, and payments will be key. This introductory knowledge will hopefully help you get a better understanding and frame questions for others in your knowledge building.
